The Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) has selected Georgia Transmission Corporation as its Partner of the Year. ACCG recognizes one organization or individual each year for its commitment to legislative advocacy, civic engagement, community partnerships and leadership development.
“Georgia Transmission seeks opportunities to get involved with ACCG and is a valued partner as they work with local governments on issues of mutual concern,” said ACCG Executive Director Ross King. “Not only do they show concern on specific local issues, but Georgia Transmission is instrumental in supporting education and training for our elected officials.”
Craig Heighton, public affairs director for Georgia Transmission, accepted the award on behalf of the company during the 2013 ACCG Annual Conference at the Savannah Civic Center.
“As we construct electric power lines, Georgia Transmission strives to be a good neighbor by working with local governments and civic leaders to understand the interests of the local community,” said Tom Parker, vice president of external affairs and member relations of Georgia Transmission. “We are honored to have been chosen for this award. It would not be possible without the high level of commitment and dedication by our employees.”
Georgia Transmission has sponsored scholarships to county officials and staff for ACCG training programs and has actively participated in the fall district meetings held around the state. Its participation in the ACCG Partners Program has enabled the company to maintain a healthy dialogue with communities while working to provide reliable, affordable electric power.
