Georgia is the nation’s top state for business. And as more companies choose to call the Peach State home, there is increasing demand for reliable, affordable energy.
At Georgia Transmission, we work every day to plan, build and maintain high-voltage transmission lines. The end result is a safe and resilient power grid that allows existing businesses to grow and attracts new industry.
We know that when business leaders choose where to locate and expand, one of the primary factors they consider is access to reliable, affordable electricity.
In places where rates are high, energy can be cost-prohibitive for business owners. And in areas where reliability is spotty, there’s the potential for loss of productivity and revenue.
It’s clear that businesses depend on reliable power to fuel their work. That’s why Georgia Transmission works with local EMCs to identify and meet the energy needs of communities and businesses across the state.
Take for example Valentine Farms Business Park, a top economic development site in Northeast Georgia that’s home to Toyota, North American Stainless and other businesses.
To meet the needs of these existing businesses, as well as continue to attract new development in the region, we worked with Jackson EMC to construct an additional 230 kilovolt-transmission line and substation — shoring up reliability throughout the community and enabling economic expansion.
In northern Forsyth and southern Dawson counties, residential and business growth in and around the Dawsonville Outlet Mall dictated the need for additional transmission infrastructure. Working with Sawnee EMC, Georgia Transmission built the Hubbard Town 115 kV Substation and associated two-mile Hubbard Town 115 kV Transmission Line Tap to provide reliable service well into the future.
The economic success of our state is critical for our citizens. We’re proud to play a role in making Georgia best in class for business by helping to keep the lights on for for communities across the state.
